can some one please tell me if a lens is front focusing (in front of the subject) should i adjust the k20d focus in - or +, thanks,

According to this, you dial in -ve adjustment for FF and +ve for BF.

Page 106 of the K20D manual

If front focusing adjust using the rear e-dial (turn towards the checked flag) this will set the focus farther back (away from you)..

If back focusing then turn the rear e-dial towards the magnifying glass( this beings the focus nearer to you..

Use a focus chart from herelink

But print it out at A3 and follow the instructions in the blog, printing it at A3 will help you as your lens is a tad bigger

These are all massively over-sharpened.

Chart 3 from the above link printed on A4 will be sufficient for your needs.

Scott, these images look sharp to me.

You got to give it a bit of time, I notice those birds you put up again on the thread shot with your previous lens are definitely extremely sharp, but light of the day, distance, circumstances might not have been the same, and a few more tries and you might find that its really very very shharp. You might even have to tinker a bit with pp, but from what I know this lens is one of the best in that range compared to the others in the group.

Having said that, I find the images you shot with your new lens pretty shapr. I would have been chuffed and over the moon with them. I do see that the colours are not as saturated as your previous images so may be you just need to work a little on the pp, but as for sharpness I think they are spot on, apart from the second image but that I think you missed on the focus
