I did think about the 150-500 but after I added a 86mm UV filter to the cost is took me over what I had to spend.
I had the bundle deal on the 120-400.

I'm not bothered about UV filters either. Most of my lenses don't have them attached

Malvern_man, I have used the sigma 120-400 at an autocross race last year. The lens is good in IQ and given the reach, it is not that clumsy to carry about. The only down side I remember was a relatively slow AF speed with my K200d... I really wonder how it would perform on SAFOX IV+?! I think it would be fast.

There was a big box from SRS waiting for me when I got home from work today.
Just need to get out and have a 'play' now....I hope it fits in my camera bag, I never gave that a thought lol.

I take it you have got the 120-400mm then? Good choice. Mind you the 150-500 is just as good.
flat4. I have the 170-500 and because it is an older design, I have found it struggling to keep up with my K-5. It is better on my K20D. Looks like I will be getting either the 120-400 or 150-500 in the not too distant future.

Yes I got the 120-400, but I've just seen that the 150-500 has gone on 'sale price' ( £595 ) at SRS today.I take it you have got the 120-400mm then? Good choice. Mind you the 150-500 is just as good.

But having said that, if we all waited for sale prices then I don't think we would ever buy anything.
I'm sure that I'll be more that happy with my 120-400, can't wait to get out and use it in 'anger'. BriSCA stock car season starts in March ( first one, Belle Vue, Manchester ) so not long now.

Stock Cars. Excellent, I used to go a lot many years ago, Belle Vue (old Stadium, White City, Bradford, etc etc. The days of Stu Smith, Frankie Wainman, John Lund.

Yes I did Mike, every episode, it was called 'Gears and Tears', it was made by the BBC and was shown on BBC1.
I was at nearly all the races they were filming at but never saw myself on tv lol, I saw plenty of people on it that I do know though.

An unexpected bonus was announced at work today, just enough for a new lens.
Came straight home and gave SRS a call.
