if it's the Pentax fitting like mine it still has the focus screw drive. I'm not certain that the Pentax version has HSM link

I’m not an expert in understanding how autofocus works so can I check my interpretation of this please.
I’m thinking that the screw drive you mention enables the camera’s innate autofocus to autofocus the lens (as long as it is a Pentax fitting - the one I’m interested does have this).
HSM is a separate additional (I think quicker) capability that this lens has when fitted to some cameras (Canon, Nikon etc with the appropriate fitting) but which this lens doesn’t have on a Pentax - but the basic autofocus is still there. This is where I was uncertain but I think you are both reassuring me.

Correct, the lens will autofocus fine on any Pentax DSLR including the K-1.
I sold mine when I bought the 15-30mm but the Sigma works fine on a full frame body. Just be careful to check it well as there is a tendency for this lens to be soft on one side of the image.
