Are they having a laugh it's not even HSM, I sold mine to help buy the DA*300mm which I am more than happy with.
The Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 HSM looks a good buy now at £635 from SRS.

It will be interesting to see if prices fall if the exchange rate comes back to near what it was

Actually it cant be good news for retailers either, I suppose there will be a rush to get in before the rises but once they have happened I can see trade slacking off very quickly and people starting to look harder at the second hand market and Ebay.

Just waiting for the DA*60-250 to arrive!

To my mind this is a much more attractive lens than either the 100-300 EX (had one of those - yuk) or the 70-200.

What is especially attractive about the 60-250, is it's small size (smaller than the DA*300) when not fully extended.

If it performs as expected, it will be a cracker!
Best regards

They haven't put the price up just to have a laugh!

Whether it has HSM or not is immaterial.

It is the collapse of sterling vs the Yen/Euro/Dollar which is driving this.

There is no point selling stuff at a loss is there?

But, you're right, it's a good excuse to buy the Pentax DA* 300mm instead if you don't need the flexibility of the zoom!

Is the 60-250mm not an internal focus lens so it won't extend.

Originally it was supposed to be internal fous but I think that got changed in the two and a half years since it was announced.

[/quote]I think your right that's what's behind the increase but what it does not explain is the larger percentage increases applied to certain products. as i said in another thread "Rabbit off somewhere".

this is my preferred (in anticipation) lens too, however I was hoping to keep the sigma as a backup option if I didn't warm to the pentax. The plus pt to the sigma is internal zoom, I'll have to see how robust the pentax is before I make my mind up.
