Shutter Speed Differs

Hi,
I have just bought a 50-135 DA* and have noticed that the SS is reporting deiiferent on the LCD to the viewfinder. Have never notived this with any other lens, and as the 50-135 was second hand i am worried there could be fault?

To expand a little more, once focus has been achieved the LCD shows a shutter speed generally twice that shown in the viewfinder.

The lens has nothing to do with the shutterspeed all the mechanics and option/functions are in the camera body non are routed through the lens.
You can even set the shutterspeed without a lens attach for example.

here is some info we need.
What shooting mode and what was the shutterspeed, was it on a stable tripod, did light conditions changed (cloud moving before the sun?).

its never been an issue but I have noticed that the settings displayed on the top lcd k10d [static scene, on a tripod,] after a green button push, is never quite the same as the exif data on the image? speed difference not the aperture

As i said i have only just bought this lens and was just firing off a few test shots in the back garden. It was handheld in aperture priority mode. I was focusing on the fence and through the viewfinder with the button half pressed so it has a focus lock. The viewfinder was saying the shutter speed was 1/90 but if i came away from the viewfinder without letting go of anything and checked the lcd it was saying 1/250.

I changed apertures and focul lengths and had similar results with the LCD being around twice as fast.

It could be stray light entering the viewfinder and affecting the exposure.
Try covering the viewfinder when you view the top LCD

Very strange to be honest, never had a problem like that with my K10D, hopefully someone else can help you more.

adwb said he had also some problems like that but he doesn't know either what cause it.

Going from Matt, you said handheld so if you've it on spot metering then your light meter can also go up and down quite easily.

Maybe i shouldnt panic until i have time to do some more extensive testing. Have to say i am impressed with the quality of the shots from the lens, very sharp and nice contrast.

My thought too, that's why they give you viewfinder cap with the camera which none of us have probably ever used.
