Should I get this 70-300 Sigma lens?

Seen this is Castle cameras for £79. it also has macro abilities and a red dot to line it up with the body.

Should I get this lens or should I leave it?

It is not a true macro - if it is the DG APO - it is a 1:2 macro. So really a 'close up' lens rather than a real macro which would be 1:1.

I owned one of these years ago - it is not a bad lens for the price but it is not a great lens.

Hi thanks for your replay. I am tempted by the zoom then the macro I suppose. At the moment I have an 18-55m lens on my camera. I have seen one for £90 on Amazon.

If what you are really wanting is a lens that will give you much more reach than your 18-55 at a bargain price - you may want to consider the Pentax DA 50-200.

It will give you nearly 4 times the reach of your current lens and depending on which version (DA, DA L, DA WR)- you can pick up a good used example from around £60 (DA L), £80 (DA) and £130 (DA WR)

For very little money (compared to most good lenses) the 50-200 is a very good lens.

Look at my photo If the dragster that I have on here that was taken with the sigma lens 70/300 and a k10and I have no problem with it

Thanks I have sent him a message and we'll see what happens. In the meantime I have seen one lens in Castle cameras which is a DA HD 55-300 F4-ED WR by Pentax. Price is a bit high at £349 so I'll have to save for that one.
