That’s a great photo. I would be tempted to darken the background so it is completely black, a bit of a faff but worthwhile.

Lovely!! And I wouldn't darken the background to black as contrast with the darkest bits of the bug would be lost.

What type of shield bug? (to save me the bother of looking it up...)

Funny you should ask, Steve........

Thing is, I don't know.
The problem lies in the fact that it's been pinned for some time , which has brought about a degradation in the colours.
I've searched based on the tips of the legs & the red of the antennae but ended up going round & round.....!

If you made that darker you would lose the amazing 3D effect.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
