When I'm taking photos at a stock car night meeting under floodlights I always use Sv mode on my K7 because you can't get near enough to the track to use a flash. I usually turn the ISO up to 4000, sometimes higher.

Regards, Chris.
Chris, there are other ways of controling ISO which permit control of aperture and shutter speed as well... e.g.you can dedicate the front 'wheel' to control ISO when in Av mode. But I guess you can also dedicate the front wheel to control aperture in Sv mode if you wanted! I love the customisability of the K-7.

I use a K200, and so only have one control wheel. I find Sv mode very useful in rapidly changing light (e.g. at sunrise/sunset) as it's fiddly to be constantly pressing buttons to change the ISO in other modes.

For drive by shooting, TAv mode is useful to allow the ISO to change so I can keep a set shutter speed. Although .....

I'd like to be able able to set min-max ranges for each parameter. For example I'd like to be able to use Av mode, but set a minimum shutter speed of say 1/100, after which the ISO changes accordingly.
Is that very different from Tv mode? For instance set the shutter to 1/100, then use the other dial to adjust ISO (which reciprocally adjusts the aperture). You would need to set the other dial to ISO in the custom settings.

My K10D is on TaV most of the time for birds in flight and wildlife. As has been previously mentioned it's the one way to get depth and speed perfect.

Tv mode would be a compromise on it because I would like the camera to work in Av mode and keep the ISO as low as poss, until the shutter speed gets too slow.

I suppose another way of looking at it would be the automatic changing of modes according to light level. I do a lot of low light drive by street shooting and light levels change a lot with differently lit shop windows, street lights, etc,etc

TAv is excellent for low light. The K10D and K20D always nail it, and that will include the K-7 and K-5 too.

Sv mode, never used. I prefer control of the aperture than enything else. so either Av or TAv for me.

However for sports, mybe Sv may come into use? not sure, but worth a try.

TAv is unique to Pentax and that is a good thing.
