Selling your work online

Any ideas out there for a way to sell your photo's online? Pubblicity ideas? I am on redbubble and have had a few sales and have my own website linked for sales, but would like to be able to get my name out there a bit more. Obviously I am no pro, but have many images that I am sure that the public would be interested in. I have recently entered the italian national geographic competition and hope to have a good response. Apart from this I am a bit lost. Maybe a small local exhibition in modest terms?

Enter competitions, that might help.
If you come high they will probably showcase your photo meaning more people will look at it.

Reminds me of a story I read a month a go.
It was about a boy who won a competition and a company phoned him the next day saying they want to use his image and offered him a 4 digit number I believe. The boy was unsure and said he needs to think about.
Two days later the boy calls the company and says he wants to sell it but the company had no interest because the boy had put the photo also on other sites where it could be used for 1$ fee

Stefans suggestion is a good one..I recently won a competition and was contacted by a publisher as a result - I hope to have some good news shortly

The problem with online sales is that there are so many websites doing the same thing - high page ranking is essential to generate any traffic to your site and even when you manage that converting visitors into customers isn't easy either

If you want to promote your photography then local galleries/craft centres are well worth a try

Buy a copy of the Freelance Photographers Market Handbook, Under £10 for the 2010 edition from Amazon.

Best Regards - Pete.
