It was nice place....but not so nice pic

Any advice ?

I wouldn't say this was a bad picture at all but with such a fascinating subject i'm sure a more interesting shot could be acheived. here are my humble suggestions: move around for a more varied angle perhaps? Find some way of creating a more dramatic scene....for example getting lower down/zooming in/taking the shot in portrait of just one tree...
also maybe less of the water and more of the trees?

It's not bad at all. I hope you don't mind me having a play with it. 2 variations I can suggest:

1. black to transparent gradient from the top, layer mode soft light:

2. turn by 180 degrees and crop:

Of course, as Jerome suggested, it can't do any harm to try some different angles. But I think there's something in this shot already. What do you think?

The first one of the edits is a huge improvement...so my advice would be to take a little more care over the exposure settings and maybe do a little bit of editing

I tried soft light leyer with 50% opacity too (Stefan once gave that idea)
but here the gradient adds a lot ! It was missing

Btw, I cant see (understand) difference in softlight mode and overlay mode (GIMP)
Quite the same result for my eye.

Still it disturbes me, that I have to PProcess.

If your not at all happy about it, then that is enough to jus' forget about it. Jus' use this image as a reference point for goin' back later.

The trees on the left look very interestin'. I suggest goin' back and gettin' an image of the base of those two trees and they're reflections shot in 'portrait' format.
To me these'd make a nice tight abstract image.

I'm not sure if you print your images, but to mess around with this image lookin' for a crop means your gonna' lose a ton of pixels.
Its shot in ISO400, that doesn't help either really.

In this case I would definitively go monochrome on this. The colours don't add (not your fault, the light wasn't cooperating) to the picture.
The shapes of the trees and reflections in the water have a very whimsical
(grotesk in German)form and shape.Why not emphasize that. Just to make it a study of form, shape and shades. Finish it of with some duo-tone at the end.

But that of course is only me, with my mono tick.

In my schooldays I had only B&W negatives, and lab in my bathroom....should go back and forth with that as well without moving into bathroom

the firs of the last ones in BW. It semes really better for me.
But I give up here.

I second that. The repeating tilted M shape, really makes the picture.

The first pics went better with BW. But they are not still good.
The 2. pic was born to BW. Even I understood that
