There is a little slider on the side of some cards - is this used to enable/un-enable 'write protect'? (as on the old floppy disks of yesteryear)

Cards work fine when in camera so he can't have locked the card with the slider. There is a little slider on the side of some cards - is this used to enable/un-enable 'write protect'? (as on the old floppy disks of yesteryear)

I second that. Had one duff one myself. Placed card then in the Netbook and everything was fine. Replaced the card reads and everything was fine.

I would suggest you check the speed of these readers. A lot of the cheap ones only do about 3/4 MB/s compared to 18/20 MB/s of the better ones

Thanks everybody. It was the card reader that had gone wrong. Strange I have had it about two or 3 years and its been fine.
Alls well that ends well

I thought it would be No point in keeping card readers that report problems with several cards, such as can't delete file etc.

I have tried an old card and a new one both, formatted in the camera. I have never had this problem before. I am running windows 7.
Any ideas of how to get round this? The cards work in the camera perfectly.
