Hello,
New to this forum and to dSLRs. Have had a K-7 for 1 week now, and I've had to reformat the 16 Gig SD card 3 times already because it ends up at "cannot display image". Is this usual, or should I take the card back to the shop and have a whine at them to get another? =)
Many thanks

I had the same story with K20D and 16GB SDHC:

It ended up with selling the card and changing to one of the three types preferred by local Pentax. (Weird...)
No problems since then.

Ok... just to provide "closure" to this thread-
The card in question was a "Transcend" Class 6 16GB SDHC card, I took it back and they swapped it over for another, and gave me a nice discount on a spare. It's the main line they carry and they've not had any other issues with them... just a bum card I guess (hope!).
Many thanks to London camera Exchange for being so cool about it

Which is what I do anyway...I was just saying that if images are manipulated with other software for example if I rotate an image on the PC as opposed to having auto rotate in the camera then the above message is displayed.RobE17 wrote:

I would suggest you get a card-reader and download your pictures to the computer and work on them there.I have found that if I make any changes to the images via photoshop or any other software that are still on the card then I insert the card into the camera I get the message "Cannot display image"...hope this helps.

Nass,
Hope you've got it sorted now.

But why are you doing this? I can't see the point of saving a modified image back to the card.

The images have already been transfered to a back-up source at that point be it a HDD or CD, it might just be that I haven't got round to taking them off the card so that I can use it again...it's when I look at the images on the camera before I format the card that it doesn't read them

I'm with George, I can't understand why you'd want to do this. The card and camera are designed to allow you to take pictures not use the card as storage medium for review later on.

The point I am trying to make unsuccesfully it seems is that I don't always delete the images straight away from the card once I have backed them up on whatever I am backing them up on for whatever reason
Sometimes I find images on my card but in the knowledge that I have already backed them up so I can then format the card...that is when I come across some that I have edited with the message that I posted earlier on.
