I really like the shot and the composition but I don't like HDR and feel in this case it detaches the building from the rest of the shot, I almost wish that area were just sky. But as I am always saying it is just my opinion I am not qualified really to comment on anything else.

I find it interesting so many people say "I don't like HDR..." HDR can go from really very subtle to horribly garish depending on how you do it. Some photographers deliberately go for the "over cooked" look which is where, I guess, the feeling is coming from. At the other end of the scale it is possible to use it to prevent burnt out highlights and noisy shadows in a more subtle way.

Back to the OP... I love the composition and again I find myself liking a fish-eye image despite myself. I do feel in this case, however, the HDR is a bit over-cooked as you said from the outset.

You may be correct and I may have seen shots I like that are HDR and I am unaware of the fact but of those I have seen and been aware I am not keen on the result it always looks grainy to me and, particularly when used on landscape, to defeat the object of taking a shot of a beautiful or otherwise interesting view only to change it, but perhaps that is your point it perhaps should not be noticeable.

Would be happy with this particular shot if the aim was to produce a surrealist feel to it but if that was not the intention I think the HDR spoils a shot that is so well composed and would, one would think, stand on it's own merit.

The more I look at your fish-eyes, the more I think of getting one more lense for myself.... You are friend with this lense.

I thought that I shouldn´t waste more...but ..... anyway, its the first in my list.

I like the comp, I like also its "syrrealistic" wiev (as sb said). Otherways it might loose its efect.

And I even do not know what HDR means

Have you cropped? It seemes to have more "fisheye-effect" on the left side.

Well spotted Aiki, I included something in the right hand side of the shot when originally composing that I thought would add interest. I prefered the cropped version though as it added more of a surreal feel with the building being fairly straight & the face being warped.

Here's the other image I took in Cardiff bay & was in my "maybes" for this fortnights competition (but have since gone a completely different direction)

It's the Millenium centre, also in HDR but not overdone I don't think, but you lot can be the judge of that !
