Scuba Pictures from my Hols.

I thought this is the best section to put them in.
Sorry they are not taken with a Pentax.

Pics were taken with a Sea & Sea Motor Marine 35mm camera with external stobe, most pics were at f8/11 with TTL, manual pre focus (or guess the distance)
The pics were developed at a high street shop at 5x7, I have scanned them at 300dpi and resized to post here. (no colour correction)

The white blobs that appear in some of the pics are plancton reflecting the flash, I did not have the strobe set high enough to eliminate them.

Under water photography is very difficult as the plancton is virtually invisible to the eye, but pops up on flash.

Another problem is the loss of colour as you dive deeper, red light is gone after 5 meters.

The shots of the Grouper were taken at 20m, all you have is shades of blue unless you get very close up.

The reef shots were at about 15m so I could get a close up shot, as reefs do not move, as opposed to "scarface "the Grouper.

Another problem is that you do not have the the benefit of a tripod under water, you have to balance yourself with neutral bouyancy with your scuba gear and try and float at the correct depth, then you need to slowly creep in on your subject without scaring it away and then try and frame the shot before its moves away.

Interesting photo's. Where were they taken? Geographically of course. Underwater will not be accepted as an answer

Shots were taken at "Three Islands" which happen to be three islands about 4 km off the coast of Tekirova near Kemer (Antalya region) in Turkey.
