Screen protection for Pentax K-r: Do you use it? Is it needed?

I use a thin transparent sticky membrane which sticks over the screen. Very cheap and you just cut it to size and apply. Doesn't leave any residue when peeled off, but does collect scratches, smears, grease etc so I wouldn't be without it. I think I bought a pack of small sheets of the stuff at Jessops for about a fiver when I bought my K10d about three years ago. Still got some sheets left.

I've never used a protector on my K100D, my K20D or my K5. I've never managed to scratch any of those screens, and I'm not especially precious about my cameras.

I have a GGS glass screen protector on mine - but mine is the one for the K-7, not the K-x. It would have fit perfectly, if I had managed to correctly align it, but oh well.
Of course, with this you'll still be wiping off fingerprints and oil - just from a different screen protector.

I use a screen protector the small film type. Better to be safe than sorry I reckon...

It's a personal preference thing - after four years and tens of thousands of photos in all conditions (and without being overly careful) my K10D still doesn't have a scratch on the screen. It does collect nose and fingerprints but then it still would if I had a protector on there. For that reason I've never bothered using one.

I have a GGS glass screen protector on my K7 and K20. Tougher than the plastic film and not prone to bubbles and peeling at the edges. Yes still easy to remove should the need arise. No discernable loss of IQ on the screen

I use the film type. The chance of scratching is very low, but it makes me feel better & might help preserve the camera's value should I ever sell it. Couldn't justify spending bucks on the expensive types though...

Just to add that if I was going to get one, I would go for one of the hard 'armour' type ones. You do occasionally see cases where people have dropped their camera so that it has landed LCD down on a pebble or something, resulting in damage similar to this.

It's a mixed blessing is it not? I don't use any cover as they do obscure the screen definition to some degree. I haven't scratched a screen yet!

The ACMAXX is great. No noticable loss of definition - a comfort to know it's there and cheap as chips.

I havea light 1 inch scratch in the top corner of my K20, does not effect use but if I ever do want to sell it would expect to knock the value slightly.
Wish I had screen protection then, it happened a week after I bought it. But even so have still not bothered with protection 2 years later.

Do you use any kind of screen protection for your Pentax DSLR? I notice that as I'm using the optical viewfinder now, my face is stuck against the LCD a lot, and then there are fingerprints too - which leave quite noticable marks on the screen. Annoying when reviewing photos. Also - I'd like to keep it scratch-free so I'm looking to invest in a screen protection film. Any thoughts?
