Samsung 50-200mm with Optical Stabilisation

I was in Currys today and noticed a Samsung 50-200mm lens for sale. As I was going up to it it looked a little odd, when I finally got close enough to see it properly I found out why.

It was a Samsung branded K-mount 50-200mm but it had Optical Stabilisation. I wasn't aware that such a lens existed. As all Samsung K-mount lenses are essentially re-badged Pentax lenses, does this mean there is a Pentax version too?
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.

I've just had a look online and it looks like it could be the lens for the NX10 (therefore not K-mount).

I didn't actually see the bayonet, but took it at face value that the label saying "for Samsung DSLR cameras" meant GX10, GX20, etc.

It didn't help that it was right next to a Samsung 16-45mm with a similar label!

Samsung have remade both the 18-55 and the 50-200 for their NX system - as there's no in-body stabilisation both the new lenses have it built into them instead. They won't work on a regular K-mount as the registration distance is too short (so no infinity focus).

And no, you won't be seeing a Pentax version...

30mm f2 pancake looks good.

And they're doing a 20mm f2.8 pancake.

Have they created a new lens mount then? Bit of a risk I'd have thought, limiting people to a choice of (currently) three lenses.

It`s a cross between a dslr and a point and shoot, if I ever needed a compact I would certainly consider it, once all the lenses come out.

The register (mount to sensor) distance is far shorter so K-mount lenses won't work on it and therefore you can't use K-mount lenses also within the specifications of the K-mount is the register distance.
So even if they use the same fitting they can't call it a K-mount.

There will come a K-mount adapter though.
