I like your composition, Paul. And the b/w conversion.

To my eye the picture would also work cropped to below the base of the cliffs. I find the cliffs a bit distracting, but hey, its still a lovely shot

That's a really useful guide Snappychappy, makes me want to go back again.
Paul, another great shot - presumably I was asleep in the caravan when you took it....

Thanks for looking and commenting, guys.
Mhuni, I do 3:2 and 4:3 images, but it depends on what I shoot really. A lot of abstract images I shoot with a 1:1 aspect/ crop in mind, and I try to make that a possibility when I take the picture. This is what i'm doing with my 'Surveyed Presence' project...
Bernard, you find the cliffs distracting? Hmmm, for me, one of the points in shooting the image was the cliffs and they're analogy with the rocks in the foreground, both encroaching into the image on different planes.
Karl...yep, you were asleep mate...

I love the shot and the framing you've used - it is a very stable shot with the visual weight of the cliffs nicely balancing the foreground rocky promontory. The pool gives it depth with the reflection, and the rock in the pool makes it more pooly.

With cliff seems to work better Paul, it gives it gravitas (if that's the word?).

I accept I'm the "odd" one here
I just saw two excellent pics, the top section with the cliffs and the bottom section, the rock layer and reflective pool.

Agreed, and no questions Bernard that they are two good pics - it might just be one of those situations where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts .

Thanks all.
Bernard, Karma and i-Berg have summed it up really. The contrasting forms of the rocks and cliffs are key too.
I know what you mean though.
