Sailing photos

My sailing club is hosting a pretty important round of a junior national series this weekend & i've been asked to have a go at photographing the event. I'll have access out on the water from the RIB safety boat so will be able to get fairly close to the action.
So, apart from "make sure the camera is secure to you!!!" any tips?
K200D & my 1st thought is to stick with my 70-300 lens as we'll probably have to stay a reasonable distance away in fairness. Should allow me to get some decent 'close-up' shots from whatever distance we'll be on the boat.
Fast shutter & plenty of continuous shooting i reckon.

You've pretty much got it sorted. This is one instance where I might use a protective filter on the lens to avoid salt damage.

No salt damage as it's an inland, freshwater lake (Phew!) .... so, really, just fast shutter, keep shooting, short/mid dof courtesy of zoom & just keep going?
I'm hoping the organisation will buy some as i set up one of those photobox 'pro' galleries

One other point, I would go out in the RIB well ahead of time and take many practice shots.

Although an inland lake, once the dinghies get going and carve up the water (if there is any wind) you will be going up and down as well

Taking moving boats form a moving boat is a lot harder than many people realise

Oh yes! moving boats from moving boats is a tricky one as i can atest to!
However, sometimes it goes right. Here's one i did that managed to get into "Yachts & Yachting": link

Should be a good day i reckon...i'll see what i can do
