S50 In The Dark!!

Guys , Probably a daft question , but does anyone know the best way to take pictures at night?? When i look at my screen at night i cannot see a thing and i am taking a picture by chance really?? I thought at night the screen would be bright so i could see what i am taking? This is probably me , but any help would be appreciated. Sorry to be so thick but when i bought the S50 this would help me take pictres at nightime?/

Hi Dano,

Your camera is not a night vision scope! The display will not be able to show you anything other than pin point sources of light from lamps etc.

Cameras are able take shots in nearly dark situations by using very long exposure times but the display on your camera is updated many times every second so it cannot work in low light.

However, once you have taken the shot the display will then give you a good idea of what you have captured so you can adjust the exposure accordingly.
