My DAL18-55 has just rolled of the kitchen worktop onto a stone floor. Both caps came off and the plastic disc on the mount came out. I thought it would have been a total wreck. I clipped the disc back into the mount and put the lens on my K-m and much to my amazment it works OK. It may be a cheap lens with a plastic mount but its very robust.

It would seem Pentax make some pretty sturdy kit, read this.

Wasn't there a DFA100 here that took a tumble down a stair?

My Dad managed to drop his then-new K2 and M 50mm f1.7 off the top of Pen y Fan back in the late 70s. It went on to photograph around two decades of family holidays and has recently been given a good clean and a new set of light seals to be used again this summer.

The only mark on it is a small dent in the baseplate, not bad considering it bounced around 100m down a rocky hillside in a holdall!

I had the 50-200 WR fall out of the camera bag, which I hadn't closed properly, onto a concrete path, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Doubt I'd be able to sell it on here now though!

With a previous camera, I'd set up for a sea/sunset shot when the tripod tipped over just as a wave came in and submerged my Sigma 10-20 in the water. No water got inside it and I used it for another 10 months, had it inspected at a camera shop and then sold it on ebay.

I did the classic one a few years ago with my first ME Super. I returned to the car after a day's hillwalking and put the camera on the roof while I got the keys out of my rucksack (you can see where this is going, can't you ).

After opening the car and putting the rucksack in the boot and changing my shoes, I was ready to drive off. A few minutes later, I heard a slight scrape as I went round a bend. Estimated speed was 20 mph.

Finding the lens cap was easy - it was just lying in the road. However, the camera had bounced across the road into the ditch. When I picked it up, there were a couple of heavy scores across the top of the pentaprism and a nick on the left edge of the baseplate. Various plastic rings fell out of the Tamron 35-80 SP when I detached it from the body. It never really worked after that

I used the ME Super for at least a couple of years afterwards with absolutely no issues, except for having to push the back up slightly when I opened it to change film . It was eventually relaced with a Super A. Pentax make tough cameras!
