Famous British Entertainer Sir Ken Dodd died aged 90 yesterday-- Knighted by The Queen in 2017, born in Liverpool, over 60 odd years as comedian and singer. I photographed him many years ago for a local newspaper when he came to my town, BRENTWOOD, Essex ( ENGLAND) on stage at the Brentwood Centre, by available light. PENTAX ME Super + 80-200mm f4.5 SMC Pentax-M zoom lens at full aperture, ILFORD XP1 film. Print scanned from my files. He 'beat the Income Tax Man' in the 1980's !!

He was a unique entertainer and you captured him beautifully. Exactly how I think of him.

RIP Ken some good progs about him on TV last night.

He used to like go to a tog that I knew well (also no longer with us) for his publicity shots and I was told that it was 'because he knew they way his nose bent' and other togs didn't

Good photo Peter. The 80-200mm was good film lens. I found it better than the 200mm prime.

Unique, funny and a great voice - a rare combination. They don't make em like him any more. End of another era. R.I.P. Doddy.

I don't wish to start a debate about his tax affairs, but just wish to point out that tax avoidance is not a criminal offence. He was charged with tax evasion in 1989 and was subsequently acquitted.

The charges against him were pursued by the Inland Revenue so he said that he lived at the seaside.
