The build isn't really in the rugged and tough category so given the adventures it has been through i think it has served you pretty well - your photos speak for themselves (although as always a great deal of that is down to the photographer rather than the equipment) and I think you'll probably have to suck up the replacement price if you can and maybe move onto a GRIII (they don't seem to be much more).
I've looked at alternatives and I've not found anything that matches what the GR series offers - hence me replacing my GRII with a GRIII a few years back - the mkIII version does improve on the mkII on paper but to be honest the output is superb from both so if you can find a reasonable priced earlier version then it's probably worth it.

It'll be worth keeping for parts if you do get another GR II.
As seen with your Q sets, you're clearly a top class street shooter so I guess you'd be able to deliver even if handed a potato to shoot with!

I picked up a really nice used copy in 2024 and shot it really hard on portrait assignments. But the first year I closed the car door on it while in my pocket and smashed the screen - J Pye replaced it but fast forward my son dropped the camera on the floor and had another screen replacement.
In July of 25 while on a holiday on the Irish coast I fell on rocks and hit the camera off the rocks. The lens hunted ocassionally but in the last few weeks the lens has been getting stuck and I have used cut cardboard from toilet roll to force the lens closed so i can reopen it.
Now the camera lens opens but then gets stuck and nothing happens - camera powers down.
Pye Auctions / Repairs wont look at it so looking for some miracles
heres a selection of photos that sicken me more than the new used price on the bay (approx 700quid!)
