Our local tuk-tuk man. Took this whilst out looking for white shirts for the fortnightly comp.

C&C appreciated as ever. In particular I'd be interested to know if people think the man's face is too dark for the photo to work. It took a lot of PP-ing to make it even this light - I'd also be interested to know if people think I've managed to retain enough detail on the face.

ps. Nb. the red post box in the b/g - must have been a British legacy.

Seems over-sharpened to me, i think there is probably a good image here, but currently the halo`s are distracting, particularly around the margins where skin and shirt meet.
Sorry.

Possibly me but I don't see any halos - especially if you look at the full size image not the resized one created by the forum. What I see is bright sunlight reflecting off shiny things but then I quite accept I may well be wrong, I often am.

It doesn't look oversharpened to me I must say but I think you might be able to dodge his face a wee bit. I'd also crop it right up to the windscreen. Much as I like the shape of the headlamp I think there are two pictures here.

Thanks for the comments Dave, Mike, Ken. I too don't think it's oversharpened (which is unusual for me - perhaps I'm finally getting to to grips with this).

Ken, I tried dodging, which helped a bit but still not enough probably. There is also the problem of the pipes which make the b/g behind the driver a bit complicated - as MikeW observed on flickr. So perhaps I'd better put this away as an almost shot.

I like it Mhuni! Donesn't seem oversharp to me, and I think the face is bright enough, especially at the larger size.

I love Tuktuks. I once caught a TukTuk from Kandy to Trincomalee after missing the bus A very bumpy but great fun 6 hours or so

There was a thing on British TV a few months back about some guy who was bringing a dozen of them (Thai ones) to London, he was hoping to set up as a taxi service but I haven't heard anything since so I guess he's run into problems. Knowing Britain it's probably some Health and Safety jobsworth who's holding things up

PS Where is your Flickr link?!

Cheers Tim.

Kandy to Trincomalee by tuk-tuk. Boy, that's one hell of a ride. Hope it wasn't raining!

Re. the link the flickr page is now at the bottom of my posts but - I know this is basic - how do I change it so the link shows as flickr rather than link?

It was great fun! Quite a lot of potholes but fantastic scenery This was in 2003 or so, the North had just been deemed safe again. Got to Trinco and found all hostels had closed down, so ended up staying in an orphanage (sadly too many of those around) for a week. Had a brilliant time eating meals with a hundred kids every day!

Regarding the Flickr link:

Copy the Flickr page address (http://blahblahblah) using the Edit/Copy menu item in your web browser, then come back to PentaxUser and go to edit your signature.

Type 'Flickr' into your sig, then highlight the word 'Flickr' and click the 'link' button. This will bring up a popup box.

Paste the Flickr page address into that box and click OK. That should do it!
