Resizing photos

I don't normally resize my photos as the sites I usually use resize automatically and they don't seem to do a bad job of it.

I want to upload somewhere that has an upload size restriction but when I resize in photo shop I seem to lose an awful lot of detail and sharpness - in fact they look awful when you zoom in.

Not quite sure where I'm going wrong - can any one tell me how to resize my photos properly please,

Many thanks

Hi Charlotte, download the Free App "Fast Image Resizer" This app is excellent as it: a)retains exif data, b)you will not be able to see much difference in detail from the original, c) gives you many options on the file sizes, d)others.
Enjoy.

Irfanview does resizing very well with automatic sharpening built in. It also has a plug-in that allows one to do a lossless crop of a jpeg.
