James,
Can you keep us updated about the usage of your lenses with the focus screen please.
Thanks
Colin

There is also Katz Eye Optics and Focusing Screen both have a good reputation (but are more costly).
I have a screen for Katz Eye which is excellent and I've just ordered a 'K3 grid' from Focusing Screen to compare.
I'd be interested to know what you think of the K3 grid screen from Focusing Screen as I'm looking at getting one for my K-m.

Regards

Rob
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.

I will let you know when I receive it and have a play, they are supposed to be shipping it today (delay because of Taiwanese holidays).

Katz Eye Optics and Focusing Screen both use the K3 screens I believe so they should be almost the same only the opti-bright from Katz could make a differencing.

Apparently not Stefan, I understand Rachel Katz has denied their blanks are from the same source as Focusing Screen.com which partly why I've ordered a K3 Grid to try

oh intersting.
Someone has tested different screens from Focusing Screen, I believe he favoured one of the Canon screens, don't know which type... will look it up if I can find it.

I ordered a K3 screen just before the start of the Taiwanese holidays. From the Taiwanese postal system tracking system, you can readily find out where the parcel is. You might be interested in where it goes and the delays at each stage .....

Order:__________________________9 Feb 2010
Despatch:_______________________12 Feb 2010
Arrived UK customs:_______________16 Feb 2010
Arrive delivery office:_______________23 Feb 2010
Due for delivery:__________________25 Feb 2010

So, it takes 7 days for focusingscreen to manufacture the screen and have it delivered, approx 6200 miles to the UK Customs office in Coventry. It then takes another 7 days to travel about 120 miles from Coventry to the Parcel-Force depot in Manchester and 2 more to actually deliver it to an address in Oldham.

When they receive the parcel, Parcel-Force then send you a letter, asking for payment of the £9.89 VAT that they paid to Customs on your behalf plus a fee of £13.50 for doing that.

So, for those who think that the cost of the focusingscreen K3 screen with "Rule of Thirds" markings is a mere £51.15, you might be surprised to discover that it works out like this .........

£51.15___Cost of screen
£8.79____Postage and packing
£2.04____Taiwan sales tax
______
£61.98___Subtotal

£9.89____UK VAT
£13.50___Parcelforce fee
______
£85.37___Total

Parcel-Force helpfully suggest in their letter that if you want the parcel delivering on a Saturday, they'd be more than happy to arrange that for an extra £12, which would take the total to £97.37

Let's hope that the screen is more impressive than the process for obtaining it ...........

My focusingscreen.com K3 screen arrived this morning in an apparently original Nikon box, complete with what looks like the same black plastic fitting tool that is shown in the Katzeye installation instructions. The labelling on the outside is in English, German and French. It says that it is "FOCUSING SCREEN TYPE K3 (for FM3A)"

Where do the Katzeye screens come from, if not Nikon?

Getting a bit frustrated.... my K3 focus screen has been sitting in the Parcelforce International Hub since the 24th February 'AWAITING CUSTOMS CHARGING'.

I've fired a couple of queries off to them and so far no response other than one automated 'we have received your email'

Experiencing similar issues with something ordered from KEH. Arrived in the UK within 3 days. Took a week to get through the customs charging process (although I did get a couple of helpful emails from Parcelforce staff when I asked what was happening). Has been at the local delivery office (Mitcham) for the past four days and I am still awaiting the letter from them asking for payment to be made so they can release it. Glad they don't run a brewery.

I received an invoice from ParcelForce on 23/02/2010, which is 7 days after the parcel arrived at customs. If yours arrived at customs on 24/02/2010 then your letter may well arrive in the post today or tomorrow.

If you pay their invoice immediately (you can do it online), it should be delivered on the following day.
