Thanks unlocker..
The camera stays on thats not the problem .. Its the IR mode that shuts off and I have to go into Fn again to turn it back into that mode.. lol Its probably me doing something wrong so I shall double check today.. (If I can get out of digging a pond in our garden..)

I find the same thing happens with mine, so I tend to use the cabled release if long periods of inactivity are expected...

I extended mine to about 82 feet in total, in 3 seperate lengths (2 foot, 20 foot and 60 foot). Not as convenient as a wireless, but each device has it's own benefits.

I'll go back and read the rest of the thread now.

Dan,
I guess you were also using that sort of length for wildlife photos.. If not what other uses do those lengths have .. Just out of interest ..

Really unfriendly portrait sitters!

Yes, I use it for wildlife, mainly for birds in the garden to be honest, but also some mammals, the first was this Yellow Necked Mouse, that used to come out to the peanut feeder in my garden. He'd always pause in the same spot, so I prefocused, set up the cable release, and went indoors and had a cup of tea while I waited for it to come back out.

Also handy for shots of Starlings, who tend to be a bit nervous, and I've also done a Hornet's nest with it.
