Remote not working on Zoom 90-wr

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my remote. I've had this camera for many years now but recently noticed that the remote does not work. I've changed the battery with no luck. The timer light does not blink when the remote is removed and using an infared detector there is no beam coming out of the remote.
