An interesting concept Stan, let down perhaps by it's execution?
Full marks for the idea though .

When I look in the mirror my mother looks back at me .

Not sure I can give you advice Stan, my Photoshop skill is not that good. It just looks too Photoshopped. There is a sharp edge to your head which makes it look badly pasted on somehow.
There are others here far more skilled at such manipulations than me who could perhaps (and hopefully will) offer more useful advice.

Thanks again Gwyn. I thought the edges of the reflection looked too sharp too. One of the most difficult things was finding a suitable old photograph, the one I eventually found being nearly 40yrs old

Good fun. Its effect is more about the idea than perfect technical execution, so others can help with PS ... but it's amusing regardless! (But you'd have us believe the bathroom's decor hasn't changed in 40 years

Good point. I had thought of that I just didn't know where I could get a photo of and old bathroom, with say a cistern with chain and squares of newspaper on a wire hook

Them tank toilets used to freak me out as a kid, they were creepy...

On the contrary, I saw the last image in a magazine some time ago and thought I'd try something similar. The hardest part was finding an old photograph that would scan as a lot of photos of the age were printed on a sort of embossed paper which is a nightmare to scan. It was fun looking at the old holiday snaps and trying to remember the Pentax SFX n shots

My idea for the shot was to be seeing a ghost image from the past, hence the "see through" reflection also showing the room as it is in the present.

Think the old tank toilet was easier to maintain than the enclosed unit we have now
