Very nice!
I tried to photograph some. It's not as easy as I thought it would be.

I agree. This was my first attempt at fireworks.

I arrived home from work and realised that it was Bonfire Night, so I opened the bedroom window and 'poked' the camera out.

I should have thought about it beforehand and decided on what might be the best settings etc.

I had mine on manual everything. I figured it would be too dark for auto focus to work and the light change would be too quick for the camera to keep up. I started with a wide open aperture and a reletively slow shutter speed, but got motion blur..although on one of them the blur looks good.
Then I figured, what the heck! It is bright when they go off, so I went for a faster shutter speed, but left the aperture wide open so my DoF wasn't very good. But hey..I know for next year

Oh, I also used a 16x starburst filter.
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

Good try Hyram..
I think 50% of getting it right is finding somewhere away from the main crowd, so they don't kick your tripod etc...

It must be late.

I'm so used to being told that I've got the horizon wonky, that I went back and had another look
