Red Kites at Rhayader

We went to Wales a few weeks ago, and I've been re-organising my hard drives since then, so have only just had the chance to go through my photos from then.

Here are a few of the Red Kites at Gigrin Farm, Rhayader. If you've never been there, and like birds, it's definitely somewhere to put on your list of places to go.

All shot with my K10D and DA*300mm, handheld, mostly ISO100, AF-C, all cropped to some extent, some more than others!

Wow. Thanks Dan. Are these all wild, but tagged, birds, or are they captive/tame?

Stunning. Great shots Dan. Red Kites are relatively common around here now, but I've yet to get good shots of them.

All wild Peter, but feeding every day at 3pm brings in hundreds of them from miles around.

Chirpy, Gigrin Farm is the place to go, you can book a place in the photo hide too, apparently, but these were from the general hides.

Thanks all for your comments!

Truely amazing shots. Very impressive.
Nos 1 and 4 do it for me. Superb, all great images.

Tried this myself and know how hard it was, for me anyway, took loads of shots... all the ones in flight were... well I better not use my terminology but you know what I mean

It was difficult and frustrating to say the least.

Well done Dan.

Shame you had only 300mm, I mean you wouldn't have to crop if you had 500mm...

Serously though fantatic, jealousy inducing shots

I like 5 best with the Out of focus kite in the background

It has now become a very popular venue for photographers, there is also a feeding station, as they are commonly known, at Llangadog as well, below the Black Mountains.

Excellent captures by the way and all you say, "hand Held" at ISO 100, very impressive - well done.
Not everything in life is Black & White, If only it were!
Kind Regards,
Rees
