Red Arrows in Plymouth

Hi, I'm Ed, I've been a member for a while and thought it was about time I posted something.
The Red Arrows came to Plymouth on a cold, wet and windy day but still put on an excellent display.

This was my first attempt at photographing an airshow and I would welcome any comments, criticism or tips.
All taken with a K20D & Pentax 18-250 lens.

For a first attempt all I can say is there great, thing mike may have some comp. at last....

Excellent shots, I really like the last one. Could do with a bit more contrast though I feel.

red Arrows were in Gibralter on the 17th I believe I was hoping to be there long enough to see them but got sent back to UK early

If I were to nitpick, number one needs the stray wing cloning out at the bottom

I like 'em all, but 'speshly number 3 and the last one - but I would just have to clone out that post - such a great composition, it must be worth it

I've had a go at cloning the post out and whilst it feels a bit like cheating I must admit it does look better.

Looks good! I can still see a smudge but possibly only because I was looking.
Far from cheating, I would go further -
I would also dodge and burn the sky or multiply the image to give it more punch.
It's well worth the effort, but the sky needs to be part of the composition IMO.

Funny, I remember thinking that way when I first started taking photos...but I've since learnt everybody does that sort of thing in one way or another. Whether it is changing the sky ( I still want to know how to do that ), or just tweaking contrast.

All good shots but number 2 for me with the cloudy sky as the background...nice

Number 4 is a nice image too, my advice with shots like this would be to try and frame it a bit earlier towards the right of the frame so that it has space to the left of it to fly into if that makes sense.
