Really really cheap ring light

You can't call it a ring flash and it doesn't look pretty but it works fine for close up work. Pop into Poundland (gardening section) and get a 12 LED parasol light. It takes 4 AA batteries which last for days. Now that is cheapskate photography but I did see similar (with 12 green LEDs - why green? ) at In Focus which cost a lot lot more Bernard

I can't get there at the moment, but the keywords on candlepowerforums.com were "LED camera flash"; then there's this article http://www.ledsmagazine.com/features/2/4/1/1 covering some of the material. It's quite interesting. The bottom line was that the speedlites of this world put out around a million cd in a short space of time over a limited area.
