The poll doesn't suggest where we are taking the photos from.

I think it would be OK to do this in "Your Photos" where, I think we agree, the emphasis is on C&C, but it wouldn't be so acceptable to do this with images in "The Gallery".

I agree.

I did mean in the 'Your Photos' section - sorry for not making that clear. If a mod has time to edit the OP to reflect that, it's fine by me.

I voted yes also.

As Photography is a visual medium, it makes perfect sense to show what your talking about via a posted picture in the thread.

Personally, I've learnt a great deal about post processing and composition when folks have done this with my pics.

My only additional point would be to explain what has been changed and how along with the re-posted picture so that the OP can benefit from it, and that it's not just seen as 'show-boating' on behalf of the re-poster.

I voted yes. But I"ll guess you already expected that. My routine is known by now. I always ask permission or do it automatically when I am sure the poster doesn't mind. The picture always gets the credits and © notice on the site, hosting the edited version.

And YES ! The my photo's section is the only place to do this. So please.......could there be a change in the naming convention of that section as suggested by me in this thread? (page 3)

Another yes. If someone is kind enough to make the effort to show me how a picture can be improved, or even just make me think about it, I am very grateful.

A picture is after all worth a thousand words, and a picture and a few words is even better.

A picture along with a description of the process used to produce it, I think is acceptable and helpful.

Hopefully Amin won't mind me posting one of my images to illustrate a point, rather than a modification of his own...

You know Amin is easy going in this respect & has learnt alot this way, plus in some areas has then gone on to out-perform the advisors. I'm wondering if it's all a giant ruse to test us all.

I notice on other forums there is an option in the members preferences that can be ticked which then shows under their avatar that he/she is happy to have their images manipulated. Would it not be possible to do likewise here?

To be honest I rarely do anything to others pictures on here as I prefer to work on the raw file, or at the very least a decent sized jpeg.
