Raynox MSN 202 Super Macro lens

Has anyone any experience with this lens?

Those add-on lenses are not worth the price you pay for them if you want good quality pictures. They might be OK if you use them just for fun, but it depends about your interpretation of fun...

I bought a Raynox DCR150 last Xmas as a cheap alternative to a macro lens, to dip my toe in the macro waters. And I'm really pleased I did. The quality of the results exceeded my expectations (though I cannot compare them to a proper macro lens). From what I gather Raynox filters are a cut above other close-up filters/lenses.

One thing you should consider is what lens you intend to use them with. I've used mine with a DA50-200, a DA55-300 and an FA35. Results were good on all three (for some examples check out my entries in the Fortnightly competitions #8 & #10, and in Weekly comp #89). However, it does start vignetting at the near end of the DA55-300, and to a lesser extent the DA50-200. On a 67mm lens it's pretty useless.

It's quite tricky getting the depth of field right on larger magnifications in particular, but the extent of magnification can reveal amazing things. I reckon I'm glad that I got the 150 rather than the 250 - as the magnification might have been too much on that. Not sure how the 202 compares - this seems to be a replacement for the DCR150/250. Though the latter are still available through Amazon sellers.

I have seen some cracking macro shots taken with the Raynox 250, it looks a worthwhile investment if you dont want the expense of a "proper" macro lens.
