RAW file format specification

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the specs of the RAW file format of the *ist D or *ist DS? Would I be contacting Pentax directly? Companies like Adobe get this stuff for their Photoshop development. Will Pentax share this with me too?

Cheers,
Joerg

Hi!
You need to check out the source code for dcRAW - the "definitive" guide to camera RAW formats. The *ist-D is included

Hope that helps

I use cdraw with GIMP running under Linux. It handles the RAW files from my *istD OK. I can also read EXIF data using 'exif' or 'jhead'.

IMHO, Linux knocks the socks off Microsoft.

Can you do batch conversions from PEF to JPEG in the Gimp (or any other Linux program)?

George
