Went to the railway museum in York on Monday.
Took many shots, most to be deleted ...should have taken my tripod

But, there are a handful I'm happy with. So I thought I'd share a few for C&C.

I like the first shot very much. I also like the idea of the wheel but it needs some editing. Try using the highlights/shadows command in photoshop CS3 (if you have it) or more simply pulling the middle slider of the levels command to the left, or tweaking the curve in the curve adjustment to lighten the shadows but not blow out the highlights you can make a greater impact.

I know what you mean about a tripod though. I went to the RAF museum at Hendon without mine and regretted it.

Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Thanks Kris. I'm using Paintshop Pro, but I'll have a play with the curves. I have just adjusted brightnes and contrast on that one so far.

The lighting in there was awful and by 3pm it was almost dark!!

I'd have asked for my money back but as they don't charge for entry it wasn't worth while

I am thinking of taking a trip up to the Museum in the spring with my local Society (archaeologists not photographers). I'll remember to pack a tripod and some lights!

Best wishes, Kris.

You'll need big lights!
The shame is I'd taken my "new" flash with me, but I should have done some more practising at home first. The results with the flash are a bit hit and miss.

Still, it's an excuse to go back

I like the last one most. Although it is a shame, the highlights are blown out.( flash) Other than that it is just the simplicity of the shot I love. Minimal information, maximum impact. Or as the saying goes: Often less is better. Well done

Martin.
Best regards,

Martin.
