Radio 1 Big Weekend

Spent a wet & grey weekend up north in Carlisle for the Radio 1 weekend, the highlight of which was to shoot Lady GaGa, as these images are currently being syndicated I can't show them but here is the best of the rest.

The photocall shots we literally had just 20 seconds with the artist, truly stressful, ended up using TAV mode with the Metz flash on P-TTL seemed to work perfectly..

Great set, but no.1 (Strokes?) Plan B and Tinie Tempah really stand out.

No I got called over for the interview then another tog ran past me & got on the last buggy seat before me...

No 1 Arctic Monkeys, didn't do Strokes was busy editing & uploading whilst they where on. The other stage was a good 15 minute walk from the press tent & didn't want to miss GaGa.

Apparently I am on the GaGa footage but haven't had chance to watch it yet...

Turned out she took so long getting comfy in her coffin you could have done it and had time to spare

Did you get hold of your long tele, and was it needed?

hahaha unfortunately we had to go in the pit together so we where waiting 30 minutes with everyone else lol... No tele needed in the end, everything was shot from pit. Only one contract all weekend & that was for GaGa which wasn't to bad considering latest contracts she has issued, even the Foo Fighters where hassle free. All in all a good weekend..

Stage lighting was very nice, made for a BBC production so no LEDs to deal with, some dry ice now & again/

The Tinie Tempah shot is a little dark here, but that could just be my monitors

Really good. My faves are Dave Grohl and Jessie J, although Plan B is very good too.

That Tinie Tempah was the hardest out of them all lol Smeggy. He had already jumped in the same part of the stage on the chorus earlier. So when he went to that spot again I focussed on him, set the body to live view, stretched as high as I could & as most GX20 / K20 owners know live view is not fast in hi speed mode, so well pleased to have nailed him top of the jump... )

Great shot!! - Just a bit dark here. nopthing a bit of PP couldn't fix. Like I say, just might be my monitors

Well gone are the days of Uni gigs, Lene Lovich, Psychodelic Furs and the like


#3 especially and #5 (spitting image of my daughter !) stand out ! Love those two shots.

Nice work Gary and congrats on getting published. Did you use the GX20's exclusively or did the K-R get used for high ISO shots?
