Race Day at York

I went to York to photograph two steam powered charter trains and ended up doing a mini fashion shoot. It was race day as I found to my cost as I wedged into the three-car Trans Pennine Express at Durham which was already jam packed from Newcastle. Many more elbowed on board at Darlington and Northallerton until there must have been three or four times the number of passengers than there were seats.
A York I got pictures of the Duchess Class loco Duchess of Sutherland arriving from Birmingham and with plenty of time to kill before Flying Scotsman was due I spent time people watching in the massive expanse of York Station. Every train that arrived disgorged huge numbers of fashionably dressed (arguably|) race goers, many clutching bottles and glasses of sustenance.
I set to grabbing 'street' style photos on my K3 and D FA* 70-200mm lens.

In your element David. It's a while since we have seen your street work

Very opportune that they were 'legging it' to the races David.

Speaking of the former - the lady with an easel for a leg: what has happened to her other foot?

Good series.

What David didn't mention he had an extra hour and a half to kill as the Flying Scotsman became quite late due to a medical emergency on route. Cunning use of that waiting time! Well done.

Don't think you're meat to stand in the middle of the tracks!

I was waiting on the wrong platform.
