Yes, I'm quite chuffed as this picture has been chosen to run on my camera club homepage for awhile.

And so you should feel chuffed.

If I may make a suggestion, how about cropping out most of the purple bit at the top? It concentrates the eye even more on your splendid portrait.
Best regards, John

A good capture Barry. A well dressed, presentable gent.

Best regards

Looks more like an old serviceman to me, a WWII veteran. He's too smartly turned out to be a farmer - can't see any hay, anywhere.

As JR says, a tighter crop would be good (I'd make it much tighter), but it's a really splendid picture as it is.

I agree about the crop, I would even go as far as removing the light area top right by cropping up to the purple down the side, I'm surprised no one at Durham PS has suggested that Barrie:

As other have said, an excelent candid shot.

Thank you for the comments. Alan, the picture has not been entered into a competition. It was one of 8 I had to put in for our Assignment Group web page, so it's selection for the front page came out of the blue.

I hope this is what you meant.

Well done Barrie. Lovely portrait and I prefer the crop you've done .

I think the subject of the photo would be proud of it too.
