Quiggs - Merchant City Cameras

Some of our Scottish posters may remember the 'Treasure Trove' that Quiggs of Glasgow used to be. I could stare through their windows for ages. Without going into the details, the shop was reopened a while ago as Merchant City Cameras. I went in once or twice, but it wasn't as it once was a lot of the old, dusty stock has gone and it has a nice clean make-over.

Anyway, I passed by today and was pleasantly surprised to see a few Pentax items. They had examples of the K-7, K20D and K-m plus a few lenses. They also had a few second-hand Pentax bits, "Pentax - Fit" lenses and a few cameras. They had a pair of LX's, one with the winder on as well. I had a play with the K-7 and was tempted by the LX.

Not all the items are on their web-site, and most of the stuff was a bit pricey, but worth a look in if you are in Glasgow.

p.s. if I get a tenner on the lottery tomorrow, may go back for the LX

I was there in July during my 3 day visit back to Scotland and bought my new mono pod, not the same shop as it was 20 years ago but they are very helpful and they said they would send anything I wanted to Spain, I too had a shot of the K7 and I was very tempted but had just bought the Bigma 50-500 the day before so had to call a halt for now.

The owner took to drink and drugs and started selling the stock around pubs to get money for a fix. Just before he was found dead some of the staff bought him out. The shop is only five minutes away but I'm going to stick with SRS.
