Questionable and his Q (Some thoughts)

Posted 16/02/2015 - 20:06 Link
Today I received a Pentax Q - bought it off Mike-P

For a long time I had agonised over this or something like the X100s for my street photography. A lot street photographers use the X system or the micro 4/3's systems like the Sony and Olympus. Fast lenses and pretty good output for editing in post.
However, my favourite street photographers or those that choose to shoot film.

Shooting film for the last few months has taught me many many things about my style and approach, right down to composition and editing.

Your camera really doesnt matter and its all about capturing those special moments.

The fastest film I had used with my film cameras up until receiving the Q this morning has been ASA400 but at times I have been dropping it down to 200. Is it really important to demand ISO6400 clean images from your camera?

What do I think of this little digital Q then?

Its superb

The photos I've attached are from my first lunch hour with the camera today.

- I find it fast enough
- sharp enough
- and most of all covert for those candid moments

My street bag is now the ME Super for my film (which will be most preferential) and finally I think I have a digital "tool" that wont drag me down.

Any comments welcome

Looks good to me, too. The quality of image looks fantastic, and I am sure its not just down to be a relatively small web sized upload. The light and shadow patterns of no 7 really put it through its paces!

It is strange isn't it how some things go un-noticed!
