Protect yourself on ebay & paypal...some tips.

Be careful with PayPal though!
I hadn't used ebay for trading for a month or so before Christmas. Somehow some piece of *!%$ manage to get into my PP account and go onto ebay and spend £968 on a debit card that I had registered on there and then TRY to spend £15,000 on my business credit card.
Luckily my credit card twigged something was wrong and they stopped all the payments going through.
It took 10days for me to get my money back from PP from my debit cards.
So that was a nice Christmas present.
It was all reported to the police and everything.
The only ones that were gits were ebay, they didn't pick up on it until I called them and even then they didn't act straight away.
So be careful and follow the 4 steps stated by Steve above!

That's why I kicked E-Bay and PayPal into touch 2 years ago it was bad then

Not everone has a credit card, and some people have good reason not to have one. While PayPal doesn't offer total protection for every situation, I reckon it's reasonably safe when your PayPal account is linked to your bank account.
Hey, if PayPal wasn't safer than other options then all scammers wouldn't mind using it! But notice that the worst scammers avoid PayPal. Anyway, not accepting PayPal is a sign that the seller may be up to no good, so be warned.
