(not of hitchhiking (great album))
I have just come into the possession of a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and am wondering what TC I should get. Sigma offer 2 of them a 1.4x and a 2x.
What are the pros and cons of each?

Is it the HSM or non HSM version of the 70-200mm f2.8?

Then the Sigma teleconverters will not work with it.
They are only compatible with the older non HSM lenses.

You will need a Tamron/Kenko/Proline 1.4x/1.5x/1.7x teleconverter with the SDM/HSM contacts, none of which are made any longer and are expensive and hard to find.

Oh bugger, I have a Pz-AF 2X TELEPLUS MC7 and the motor whirs but overshoots the focus and never finds focus. Do you think I have a duff one? It also used to stutter its way to focus with a screw drive AF lens.

Sounds like the one you have is a bit iffy.
