I WON FREE a Program A when the Pentax Club had a magazine -- I used it for many years then it went wrong and could not get it repaired as Pentax would not release the spares to 'Ordinary Camera repairers' then Pentax ran out of Program A parts so be careful if it goes wrong ! I sold it for £2 at my Camera Club auction ( the BODY ONLY that is -- KEPT the lovely 50mm f1.7 A- Series lens as it one of my SHARPEST lenses I use on my K10D )
Been a member of Pentax Club since the Ron Spillman era! Got COMPUTERISED at last - DIGITISED?

For many years my preferred kit was the Super-A, Motordrive-A and M 40/2.8 (pancake) lens. If the 50 & 35-105 aren't enough, one of the many 28-80 ish zooms would be useful (and can be very inexpensive), M or A 28mm primes seem to be much more expensive. Avoid the FAJ's which don't have an aperture ring. I once had a Tokina KA 24-70mm lens and regretted selling it.
The Program-A needs an 'A' setting on the aperture for program mode but is perfectly usable with M lenses (manual and aperture priority). Manual is often easiest as it doesn't have an AE lock.

I love the way old threads suddenly resurface from the grave. Makes me smile every time! K.

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

If you can get a winder for your camera, you'll find, it is easier to hold the camera, because it will fit better in to your hand, and the release on the winder is softer.
The winder also lets you use a slowe shutter speed if required without shake.
You can also carry it around , holding it on the winder. You don't need a strap then.
I have a 24mm f2.8 , a 28mm f2.8 and the 50mm F1.4 A lenses in addition to the 28-80-A zoom lens.
I find for landscape photography, I use mostly my 50mm and not the wide angle. To me the image seem to small and I miss the details of the landscape.
But of course most people seem to think for landscapes a wideangle is a must, the wider the better.
Having said all that, the Program-A camera is a great camera.
