Problem with Optio WP over exposure and lines

I recently bought this camera and it performs Ok inside.
Outside though it gives a white out. The picture looks over exposed.
It is fine outside in movie mode, but stills are impossible. How can I
correct this ? Also there is ahorzontal lines which isn't great !

I had what sounds like a similar problem with my Optio WPi, which I took to Pentax UK and they diagnosed (and repaired under warranty) as a problem with the autofocus mechanism.

It had a lot of horizontal banding, it looked very overexposed and poorly focused. Occasionally I could get a couple of good shots then it would go back to being "bad".

Sounds like a repair under warranty.

Did you get it fixed. Mine is doing this now and it's not under warranty.
