Problem with 105 R Zoom

On my camera, a 105R, the LCD displays "3", and "36" This is flashing. What has happened? All I did was load the film and then try to focus, The zoom won't come back inside either, it's as though its died. Also I think the batteries were ok? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
