The 14.6MP CMOS measures 23.4x15.6mm and the 10.2MP CCD measures 23.5x15.7mm.
My calculation shows the K20D as exactly 3:2 and the the K10D/K200D as almost the same but not quite. The difference is very very small.
Unfortunately I don't still have the figures for the *istDS sensor, but it is in the instruction manual.
In any event, it is a different sensor and the shape may well be slightly different, requiring different cropping in Photoshop. I would reset my crop tool to lose a sliver of image as required to fill the paper. Composition is rarely so tight as to make this a problem.

Hi Gwyn,
Just looked at the pixel sizes/ ratios for cameras I've got
camera / pixels / ratio
*ist DS / 3008*2000 / 1.504
K10D / 3872x2592 / 1.493
K20D / 4672x3104 / 1.505
The difference between *ist DS and K20D is so slight I'm surprised you can see it! - is the paper exactly 10*15 cm?
I would suggest setting a crop ratio of 1*1.5 and cropping prior to print or (in photoshop CS2 and I hope the same in PSE7) use the 'print with preview' option, tick the 'Center Image' box, and specify the height (for landscape, or width for portrait) which will force a crop of a sliver of picture off of each end.
Good luck
Bob

Thanks guys, I've tried all that and still can't get it right. I'm using HP 10x15 paper, and as a test printed out an old Ds photo again - and that came out fine, but from the K20D they get cropped every time.
I give up. I'll just have to learn to leave lots of room around the edges, and accept that my existing photos won't print well.

There has to an obvious answer.
If you are using Photoshop then select the crop tool. In the top bar set 15cm wide and 10cm high (for a horizontal image) and 300 pixels/inch. Then use the crop tool and you will automatically resize correctly - just draw out the crop area until it virtually fills the frame. Fine tune the position of the cropped area using the up/down/left/right arrows on the keyboard.

I did that already John. I thought that had to work, but weirdly enough it didn't. I really don't understand it. Never mind, I'll either print them larger or not print at all, and remember in the future to allow cropping room.

I use two HP printers and I have to be very careful about selecting the right paper size AND magnification ratios, otherwise I end up with problems like yours with Photoshop Element 7 (skipped 6 to go to7). I dont have this problem with Picasa or PPB.

When I printed photos from my Ds they came out nicely at 3:2 - so if I wanted a picture at 10x15cm I got all the photo I saw on my screen on the paper. Since moving to the K20D that doesn't happen any more. It always crops bits of the photo, or leaves white edges. It is driving me nuts. I am doing everything the same as I did for the Ds but it's not working. Does the K20D not shoot in 3:2 ratio? Any ideas/help more than welcome.
