Have you turned off the colour management on the printer? if not the printer will not know which to use, Photoshop or it's own driver.
Don't forget to use the correct paper profile as well in the print window in Photoshop.

Canon come with his own profile for every kind of his paper so use that instead of letting photoshop manage the colours. Photoshop doesn't know how the inkt will react with the paper you're using so just don't do that.
Here is the Canon guide simply follow these steps link

I agree with you Stafan there are a few ways to set a printer up I use let Photoshop manage colour/printing, if your way works then that's ok.

I cannot find anywhere to turn off the printer colour management.
As for the paper profiling after months of contacting Canon by email and 'phone. The replies were all nonsensical, it seemed that the reps didn't know.

I have the MP510 (pretty much the same as the 610 I think) & it produces great results, better than my previous Epson R220
Personally I find the best setup is:
"let photoshop manage colour"
Make sure you have "colour correction" turned off in the Canon printer settings.
In photoshop make sure you have the correct canon profile selected - I use "canon MP540 PR1" - rendering intent = "perceptual" & uncheck "black point compensation"
hope this helps

Try this:I cannot find anywhere to turn off the printer colour management.

In "printer printing preferences"/ "main" - set "colour intensity" to "manual", click the "set" tab & then go to the "matching" tab - choose "none" from the colour correction options

Okay I made a screen shot for you settings what you need to change and do.
Here is the screen shot I will guide you through it. link
First set the photoshop window to the right with the right settings.
Makes sure that the ones with the blue arrows are the same.
The middle blue arrow pointing at "printer profile" - "ILFORD prenium glossy...." need to be change to the paper you are using.
MP is matte paper
GP is glossy
All the abbreviation are in the PDF document i linked you to above.
Now click on "page setup" it will open the printer window you see at the top left.
First go under effect and uncheck everything so that you've complete control.
Go back to the main tab select the right paper under "media type"
Set quality to high or go to custom and set it to fine and defusion.
Now set color/intensity to manual and click on set and aply the same settings as my.
Now you've you're colours set up correctly, you can go to page setup and apply borderless printing and things like that.
ps. Simon has it precisely the same as me.

You guys are terrific!
I've had my new printer for over 6 months and at last I'm getting to use it.
I've only got to do a couple of tweaks as per the talk through, but first I have to take my dog over the hills for a run and stop him from rounding up all of the sheep. He's a rescued border collie and I'm only partway through de-training him and his ambition is still to bring all of the islands sheep to me.
So I'll catch you tomorrow and tell you of my progress.
Thanks a lot.
I'll be back.

I have tried to print from Photoshop but my pics do not print to the colour that I wanted, the same is true with Corel x2.
I use Spyder as my datum point.
I am willing to admit that I may be not be inputting the correct colours eg, sRGB etc, in the dialogue box I input, "let photoshop manage colour."
I am using Canon inks and paper.
Any ideas?
