I received the two Amazon specials prime lenses. However, I am started to wonder if they are genuine? Both of them have "Printed in Jappan" on the serial number card

NB the DA35 is really built like a plastic "toy"

Hey the DA 35mm priced like toy. As long as it takes good photos.

The lens works, it was cheap, I don't care about a typo .

I guess the proof reader got confused.

Everything else is printed in Vietnam, including the notification of the change of name to Pentax Ricoh.

I bought a FA 50mm 1.4 off ebay and I've noticed that the slip says the same thing =/

Having lived in China for 18 years I can say that I've never seen a copied lens .... they may exist but I've never seen or heard of them, even in Shanghai's most dubious shopping malls (virtual and bricks & mortar) !

I've seen tonnes of counterfeit Canon L lenses... although they usually function as a cup

I contacted the seller for my 50mm asking about the lens' oringin.. Do you think it's much of a concern that theres that single typo on the warranty card?

Since mine came from Amazon I am happy it is not a counterfeit lens. I really can't see there is a problem.

Well, if it is counterfeits then I´m all for that! I was positively surprised with the build quality of the 35mm. Yes, it is plastic but the feel of it is quite reassuring.

I am less impressed with Pentax´ communication efforts - in general they give the impression they would rather not communicate anything at all. As a long time user you get used to it and a typo here and there is not something I would find out of the ordinary

A colleague of mine has one - when I first saw it, I upended it to inspect it (the lens cap acts as a lid that you can sip through). Fortunately the contents went over an office table rather than the carpet.
