Interesting.
Can our present generation cameras make use of that speed I wonder? Useful for transfer to PC afterwards but can we take photos any quicker?

Bill - I believe the latest Pentax firmware is designed for this very situation. That being the case, Then I guess that as well as the obvious transfer speeds from card to computer, you should see an improvement in transfer speed in-camera. Imagine if you were taking rapid-fire multi-frame shots of a F1 car - on a Class 4 card you might successfully capture 4 images before lag kicks in, for example. A class 6 might give you 6 before lag takes over. Using that rule of thumb, I'd imagine that a Class 16 writing at 567x should happily manage to capture 16 frames minimum before it needs to catch its breath!

Algi - They most certainly are real! I first became aware of them when our company had to help shift some computer stuff over to the CeBIT in Hannover earlier this year. The 2 and 4Gb cards are probably lower spec (class4/class 6/class 10). I already have one of their 8Gb 433x's, and my Kr can handle it no problem!

Do they supply direct to the public? The seem to be distributors?
Don't laugh, but I've got a Pretec 512kb SRAM Card form years ago that I paid over £50 for I never thought I would ever need to buy anything any bigger!
I bought it to transfer files from a Sharp Pocket PC-3100 over to
a PC Photo of PC-3100 link

They have a wholesaler in UK, but I bought my 8Gb 433x sd card from King Of Flash (Manchester) via Amazon. I'm gonna ask our Hong Kong office if they can track down Pretec products there, then maybe ship some cards over in the company mail.

According to Tom's Hardware the Pretec cards aren't much different
to some Class 4 to 10 cards, although a lot of these tests are using
very small files. All we are interested in is how long it takes to
copy and write Jpg+RAW files. I normally time about 200MB copy
to PC (then re-boot)and copy PC to card. The speed depends
on your reader.

King of Flash also trade on ebay. They have the 16GB for £40, but
they have a Class 16 VIDEO version for £23. I wonder what the difference
is? If it's reformatted in camera it should be OK?

I'd imagine both are good for capturing video, and I think an in-camera format of either card allows it to write and read identically, Algi. Being a tight-fisted jock, I'd buy the £23 card!

They are the only place I can find in Europe that currently stocks a Class 16 as fast as this one! It has a read speed of up to 90Mb/s, with a write speed of 45Mb/s!
I'm sure anybody here into action photography will find it useful, having this in their armoury!!
